SEMMMS/BAE SITE
MAELR/A6 Relief Road
As a Poynton resident of 26 years I consider it vital to have the MAELR/A6 relief road in place, to relieve an already congested road network, before any development of the BAE site.

SEMMMS Relief Road to Airport Funding is Essential
The forthcoming meeting of Stockport Council with the Govt is of vital importance to win funding approval for the SEMMMS Relief Road A6 to the Airport.
Early 2009 Councillor Dave Goddard, Leader of Stockport Council, was quoted in the papers as saying that 'receiving funding for the SEMMMS Relief Road is great news for Stockport & something they we have worked long & hard to secure'. Is this what the Council are meeting Govt to get re-approved or what?
We don't want just housing on the BAE site but rather a combination of light industry that will provide employment for the hundreds who worked at BAE & who have many skills greatly valued in the workplace today, schools, recreational facilities & housing. Getting funding to build the SEMMMS Relief Road A6 to the Airport should make the site much more attractive to light industry. This together with the re-introduction of something like the old 'Enterprise Development Zones' - where companies enjoy a 20 year period of no liability to rates - should also be pressed for at this forthcoming meeting.
